Divay Goel has more than 24 years of hands-on operational, commercial, management consulting and investment experience in the shipping industry. This diverse experience includes leading teams through ice navigation on board ships, advising on billion dollar M&A in shipping and ports to sourcing/structuring/closing/managing sophisticated shipping investments. 

 

Recently called upon by BIMCO to help draft a pioneering initiative to draft a senior loan termsheet for shipping assets. 

 

From 2011 to early 2017, Divay was Head of Investments in Singapore for SIVA Shipping. He built up a portfolio of 12 individual shipping investments generating USD5.5m of free cash every year. Divay successfully divested 3 investments at considerable return on equity. 

 

Prior to joining SIVA Shipping Group, Divay was the shareholder and Head of Shipping Consultancy at Drewry Shipping Consultants. While at Drewry, Divay executed over 70 large-scale consulting projects, including for Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Carlyle, Blackstone, 3i, IFC/World Bank and GIC. He also set up from scratch Drewry’s offices in India and Singapore.

 

He was a core member of the team at the Baltic Exchange in London which developed for the first time ever the concept of electronic trading of Freight Forward Agreements/FFAs.

 

Divay headed the deck department of shipping vessels, before coming ashore in year 2000. His senior level operational roles from 1993 to 2000 were with Denholm (Glasgow) and OMI (New York).

 

Divay did his full time MBA from the Lancaster University Management School (2001) in UK. He graduated with a “First Class with Distinction” rating in the BSc in Nautical Sciences from Mumbai University (1993), where he was also Cadet Captain in the passing out year. 

 

Since March 2017, Divay has set up his own Company to arrange ship finance. He has closed 4 deals since then having arranged USD55mn of finance.
