Northern Vietnam’s logistics capabilities have received a major boost with the official inauguration of the Hateco Hai Phong International Container Terminal (HHIT). This facility is Vietnam's first privately developed smart container terminal, a joint project between Hateco Group and APM Terminals.

Spanning 73 hectares, the terminal has a 900-metre wharf and a depth of up to 18.4 metres, able to service two large container ships of up to 200,000 DWT simultaneously. Cutting-edge technology—including the NAVIS N4 operation system, 5G connectivity, OCR, and automated cranes—streamlines processes and minimises environmental impact. Its integration with major bridges and expressways improves links between regional industrial centres, Hanoi, and China.

This advanced terminal is set to strengthen Hai Phong’s status as a vital logistics and economic hub. Cargo traffic reached 190 million tonnes in 2024 and is forecast to climb to 212 million tonnes by the end of 2025. With record FDI inflows of US$4.35 billion last year and a growing export market, HHIT is central to Vietnam’s ambitions for regional connectivity and global trade leadership.
